We also do argumentation writing every week. This week's topic we debated and shared our opinion on was- Should Snakes Be Domesticated? We read online articles, watch videos, read books and also have a debate in class with our peers and then write our opinion on the topic. Hope you enjoy reading our opinions. If you would like to read more argumentation writing examples from our class then please visit our individual blogs that can be accessed from the left hand side of this blog.
Should we use animals to test?
This week we have been discussing if we should use animals to test.

Sadaw's Retro Video Game Themed Word Questions
Rotoroa Island (By Joanna)
On Monday all the year 6 to 8 went to Rotoroa Island in the golf harbour.
First we all went in a bus to get to the Auckland harbour and as we got
there, there was a biosecurity dog who sniffed our bags to check if there
was anything bad.
We went on a really cool but huge ferry and it had a very cool bow it was really big
and when you stand near the railing then it will feel like your going to fall off but it
was safe to go there and then there was a cafe but it wasn’t open until it was time
to go back home.
As we arrived at Rotoroa Island we had a really long walk. At first it
was a quick short walk to the beach and then we went on the sand
where we had to identify bugs and all types of creatures and bugs there.
When we finished doing that activity any who brought their togs had a really
good swim in the beach I didn’t swim because I didn’t bring my togs but I
still put my feet in the water and me Maia and my sister made a sand pool
we basically made a base and then water came in it and then it became a sand
pool, it was really cool.
Afterwards we all packed up and continued our walk. This time it was really long
and we went up so many hills I felt like I was going to fall down. I literally
couldn’t feel my legs!
We had lots of breaks but it still wasn’t enough for me because I was really tired
and exhausted but I still kept on going because I had to! While we were on the
beach I collected really cool rocks and stones, one of them was white and clear
and the other was dark forest green.
When the walk was finished we went back to the ferry. The ferry ride was really
long, maybe about 1 whole hour and 45 minutes! When we got back on the bus it
was a long ride but not as long as the ferry ride and as soon as we got back to school
I was running around and then suddenly my green stone dropped and it cracked in
half. I didn't even know that stones could break that easily!
At the end of the day I was really happy I went on that trip because I learned a lot of
new things and it was a really fun but exhausting experience.
We have started Term 4 by exploring the topic of natural disasters and are studying the different types of natural disasters. This week we created a list of items we think we could need in an emergency in a survival kit. First we discussed in groups what a survival kit is and then we shared our lists with other groups in our class and compared and contrasted our lists with them.
We will be making a class survival kit in the next few weeks and also individual survival kits.
Here are some photos of our draft survival kits.
