Food and Nutrition Lesson with Isabel from Heart Foundation

Today we had our first session with Isabel who is a dietician and we were lucky enough for her to come into our class and talk to us about food and nutrition. She taught us about the food pyramid and the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet. Isabel showed us what each food group has in it and what we need to be eating most of, some of and least of.

Before she started her session, Isabel asked us what we already know about health and made us activate our prior knowledge, a strategy we have been focussing on lately in our class.

Here is our brainstorm we did with Isabel before our session.

Here are a few for you to look at and if you would like to view more please visit our individual blogs.

We all did a blog post about it. Here are a few for you to have a look at. Please click on our individual blogs if you would like to read our recount or reflections from our walk.

Life Education Lessons

We have been very fortunate to have had two life education lessons with Harold the giraffe and Nicole the life education teacher.

We really enjoyed our sessions with Nicole. She was absolutely amazing- so funny and kind. She talked to us about really important life lessons like being proud of who we are, never to bully anyone and stand up for people who are being bullied.

She also talked to us about being responsible for how we can be the person who makes sure we stay happy. We have the remote to our behaviour and feelings through facing the challenges and moving forward.

Please click on the image link below to view some photos. Each of us has also written our individual reflections on our two sessions in the life education caravan highlighting the key things we took away from our lessons.

Should we conserve water?

In our class we have been learning to share our opinions with evidence from texts we read or listen to or watch.

For the past few weeks we have been working on a science inquiry topic- Humans impact on water.

This week we are rounding off our learning and completing it.

Today we recorded our opinion on 'Should we conserve water'? We shared our ideas/opinions stating the reasons from the texts we read, watched or listened to.

We recorded our opinions on this padlet here.

Financial Literacy with PWC

Yesterday we were very very lucky in Room 5 as the CEO of Price Waterhouse Coopers and 3 other top professionals came to our class and ran a financial literacy programme with us.

Please click on the image above to view our photos with them.

They taught us about income, spending, savings, borrowing and lending. They also taught us about how to be a smart spender and earn income.

Please click on learner blogs to read our individual reflections from our time with PWC coaches. What a treat it was to learn from these professionals from PWC and to top it all the CEO of PWC was in our class teaching us to be financially literate and smart.

Thank you PWC!
