Auckland Zoo Trip

On 4th August we visited the Auckland zoo.

Our topic of focus this term is on 'Sustainability'.  We are looking at what we can do to be more sustainable in the way we live.

At the Auckland zoo during the education led session we  looked at the idea of our place in the environment and what impact our actions may have. We’ll also took a closer look at Maori concepts, namely, Manaaki, Kaitiaki and Whanaunga and how do we connect as we live within them?

Examples of sustainability like harvesting harakeke, rāhui and other tikanga was discussed. There was time for us to think, pair, and share our thoughts, as well as brainstorm our current ideas and how we may live more sustainably at home and at school.

Here are a few photos from our trip. Hope you enjoy them.

Room 5 at the great Pumphouse Theatre

This morning, the years 0 to 6 went to the PumpHouse Theatre in Takapuna Auckland. We traveled there on buses, and as soon as we reached there, everyone stayed in a single file line right to the entrance. As soon as we walked in, the theatre was massive! Fun fact, the theatre's chimney was made in 2010. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos or videos inside the theatre. But it was amazing! Our teacher managed to take some photos outside though.

PwC Visit

Today some staff members from PwC came to our class to read the Toitoi journals with us and did a Kahoot and art with us. Do you kow what PwC stands for?
It stands for- Price Waterhouse Coopers
It's a company that helps the businesses with their finances and financial problems.
When you visit Auckland City have a look out for a tall building with a curved top that says PwC.
