This week we have been very lucky as we started the EPro8 challenge in our class. We have teams of four to five and are working together. We will be doing a whole heap of activities to do with Maths, Science, Technology, Engineering, Technical English (Reading, Writing, Viewing, Speaking and Presenting).
According to the EPro8 book, by the end of the week the students will be talking, writing, solving problems and constructing like scientists and engineers. Sounds fantastic isn't it.

We are learning to ask and respond to evaluative questions in our class at the moment and have been exploring a variety of topics to share our opinions on. Today we discussed the good and the bad points of social media. On this padlet we have shared our opinions.

We watched one minute, one sport videos from this website here and chose an olympic sport to write a short information report on.
Here are some reports from our class. If you wish to read more, please visit our individual blogs. We all followed the same format for our reports. We had to all report on what the sport is, what is it's history in olympics and how has New Zealand been involved in the sport they choose to report on.

Today the senior school visited the NZHQ the olympics fan zone at the cloud in the city. It was a fabulous start to our week. We got to meet Alexis Pritchard who is a highly successful retired boxer. She talked to us about how she became a boxer and an olympian. She talked to us about the olympic values which are excellence, friendship and respect. She shared how her never giving up attitude helped her achieve her dreams she thought could never come true and being an olympian was one of them. It was such a great trip. Thank you to Mr Herlihy (our principal) and Mrs Tupou Fonua for organising this trip for us. |
